Food, in practice
Food is never just what’s on the plate.
Food can be the thing that’s making your life difficult. It can be tomorrow’s groceries. It can be last night’s heartburn. The breakfast that doesn’t carry you like it used to. The energy crash at 3pm. Trigger, or relief. Restriction, or freedom.
Something everyone at the table will eat.
Something one person at the table can’t.
Something that has to feed three hundred people.
It can also be healing and pleasure, comfort and care.
That is why The Ellery brings together nutrition and the practical business of feeding people. We look widely at the life around the food, then work specifically on the problem in front of us.
A PRINCIPLE THAT GUIDES OUR WORK
Less friction, more flow.
Useful changes beat perfect ones. We look for the obstacles that make it harder than it needs to be.
When better eating requires constant effort, elaborate restrictions or an entirely different life, it’s not likely to become ordinary. Sometimes the answer is more knowledge, but often it’s a better recipe, a different shopping habit, a simpler system or one less decision at the end of a long day.
Whether we’re thinking about one person’s kitchen or a food program for an organization, the question is the same: What would make this work better?
What are you working on?
If you’re looking for thoughtful nutrition coaching, help with a food program, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into a category, we’d be glad to hear about it.
