Privacy Policy

Which privacy information do you need?

A useful rule of thumb: if it concerns your health, it belongs in our client system, not in the general contact form.

What this website knows about you

If you’re just browsing: not much.

Like most websites, this site and its hosting infrastructure need to process some basic technical information in order to send pages to your device, keep the site working, and deal with abuse or technical problems. That can include things like your IP address, browser or device information, and ordinary server logs.

We don’t use advertising trackers, behavioural advertising, or third-party marketing pixels on this website.

When you purchase a service

If you purchase a service through this website, we collect and retain information needed to process your order, provide the service, and maintain appropriate business records.

This includes your name, contact and billing information, details of your purchase, payment status, and records of any service agreements you accept.

We retain records of accepted service agreements, including which version you agreed to and when you accepted it. These records help us document our mutual commitments, administer your services, and resolve questions that may arise later.

Payments are processed through external payment providers. We retain transaction and order information, but we do not store your full payment-card details on this website.

How long do we keep these records? We retain purchase, financial, and agreement records for as long as reasonably necessary for their business and legal purposes, including applicable recordkeeping requirements. Some records will therefore be retained after your service has ended.

If your purchase involves nutrition coaching, your sensitive health information is managed separately through Practice Better, as described in our Client & Health Information Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We’re interested in how our website is doing, not in following you around.

We use Burst Statistics, a small, open-source analytics tool, to understand which pages people visit and which parts of the site are useful.

Our analytics are configured without tracking cookies.

Burst uses limited technical information to help us recognize visits and understand how people use the site. This information is processed on our website itself and is never sent to an advertising network. We don’t use your data to build advertising profiles or track you across the internet.

Some functional cookies may still be used for your shopping cart/checkout experience. Those help the website function; they’re separate from our analytics.

Who else is involved

Some parts of running the website and business rely on other companies, including our website hosting, email services, payment processors, and Practice Better for private nutrition-client information.

When you make a purchase, WooCommerce helps us manage the order on our website, while external payment providers such as Helcim handle payment processing. These providers receive the information needed to carry out their respective functions.

Each service has its own privacy and security practices. We use these services to operate our business and provide the services you’ve requested, not to sell your information to advertisers.

Nutrition client & health information

Client health data has its own privacy policy ↗

Please review that policy for the full details. But, the brief headline is: we don’t store or transfer private health information through this website. We use Practice Better, a secure practice-management platform, for our nutrition services.

If you become a nutrition client, your health history, intake forms, appointments, care plans, and communications are managed through Practice Better rather than through this website. We don’t ask you to submit sensitive health information through our general contact forms.

Your information is used to provide the services you’ve requested and is accessible to authorized people involved in providing those services. Client records are stored and processed through Practice Better, including on servers in the United States.

You can read Practice Better’s privacy policy for information about its data handling and security practices.

If you have questions about how The Ellery uses or manages your personal information, or would like to request access to or correction of your information, please contact us.

Booking an appointment

We use Practice Better for nutrition scheduling, including introductory discovery calls. When you book a call, your contact information and booking details are collected and managed through Practice Better.

This information is stored and processed on servers in the United States, where it may be subject to U.S. law and accessible to U.S. authorities under lawful requests. For more information, see Practice Better’s privacy policy.

When you contact us through this site

If you send us a message through the website contact form, we receive the information you choose to give us (such as your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message).

We use it to read your message, respond to you, and follow up about whatever you contacted us about.

Please don’t send us your medical history through the normal contact form.

If you’re interested in nutrition services, you don’t need to send health information to get started. Use the contact form or book a discovery call. If we decide to work together, we’ll send you the appropriate secure forms through Practice Better.

Your information

If you want to ask what personal information The Ellery has about you, correct something, or ask about our privacy practices, contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when the website, our services, or the way we handle information changes. The date at the top tells you when we last did.
